🎲🏠 Math Monopoly in Mrs. Scott’s Class! 🏠🎲
Our 4th grade mathematicians teamed up to review their place value skills in a fun Monopoly-themed room transformation! Students worked together to solve problems, sharpen their math skills, and practice explaining their thinking as they moved through different review stations.
From identifying place values to comparing numbers and rounding, our students were busy making mathematical moves and learning from one another. We love seeing our Vikings collaborate, problem-solve, and turn math review into an exciting adventure! ❤️🤍💙

🌽🍿 From Corn to Composition! 🍿🌽
For the past three weeks, Mrs. Lopez’s and Mrs. Cooper’s students have been learning all about corn production while putting their reading, writing, and technology skills to work!
Students researched and read informational texts about how corn is grown and produced, then used what they learned to write an expository essay. Next, they took their writing to the next level by creating their own infographics in Canva and audio recording their essays directly into their designs! 🎙️💻📚
After all that hard work, it was finally time to PUBLISH! 🎉 Students shared their finished infographics and essays while enjoying a well-earned Popcorn Publishing Party! 🍿
We loved watching our students take their learning from research ➡️ writing ➡️ designing ➡️ recording ➡️ publishing! 🌟

Earth science sure is sweet! Using graham crackers and frosting, 5th grade students modeled how Earth’s tectonic plates move and interact to create some of our planet’s most amazing landforms—including mountains and volcanoes! 🌋🏔️They pushed, pulled, collided, and observed as their “plates” showed us that Earth’s surface is constantly changing! 🌎🔬
Our 5th graders studied for their upcoming test by becoming geologists for the day! 👩🔬👨🔬
They explored field sites, observed evidence, collected data, and investigated how Earth’s surface changes over time.

We loved spending time with our novice teachers and educators new to Dewar at our first New Teacher Roundtable! It was a wonderful opportunity to check in, celebrate successes, and provide support as we continue the school year. What an amazing group of educators!
