Happy National School Lunch Hero Day to our wonderful cafeteria workers!!
National School Lunch Hero Day is a special day when we celebrate the amazing people who work hard every day to serve us delicious and nutritious meals at school. The Dewar cafeteria workers and lunch ladies, make sure we have the energy to learn and play by preparing tasty food with love and care. Let's give a big thank you to all of our lunch heroes for keeping our bellies full and our hearts happy!

Mrs.Lopez’s ELA classes finished up their Novel Study on Louis Sachar's "Holes" this week!
As we flipped through the pages of this captivating book, we were transported to the arid landscape of Camp Green Lake and the mysterious world of Stanley Yelnats. Each day, we eagerly gathered to discuss the twists and turns of the plot, the complex characters, and the underlying themes. Through our novel study of "Holes," we not only honed our reading skills but also learned valuable lessons about empathy, resilience, and the consequences of our actions. As we wrapped up the story, we enjoyed digging up some some dirt cake being careful for the rattle snakes 🐍, some sploosh that helped on long hot days🍑, and some funions which worked to repel the yellow spotted lizards 🧅.

🎉 Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Shelly Singletary! 🎉
Mrs. Singletary’s colleagues said, “Mrs. Singletary is a wonderful teacher. She has over 20 years of teaching experience and she brings to kindergarten a wealth of knowledge and expertise from her background teaching preschool and special education. I believe that this background makes her uniquely qualified to provide an excellent academic start for students with a diverse array of skills, abilities, and backgrounds. She is warm and compassionate with the children, and friendly and approachable as a colleague. She truly cares about the personal and academic development of her students and she puts in countless hours outside of the classroom in preparation of lessons and meaningful activities to promote and enhance her students' learning experience.”
