To put their learning into practice, students worked together to create their very own Noun Town. 🏘️ Each student contributed some of their favorite nouns, including specific stores, places, and things. It was a fun and engaging way for students to apply what they’ve learned while creating a town that was uniquely their own!

On Monday, 3rd-5th grade students were treated to a performance by members of the South Georgia String Project. Beginning with students as young as third grade, the South Georgia String Project offers music lessons on all of the stringed instruments of the orchestra. Thank you for coming to Dewar! The students really enjoyed getting to experience these instruments in a live performance setting. If your student is interested in learning to play a string family instrument, please see the flyer below for more information.

The Good Morning Dewar Show is officially up and running!
Every morning, this group of 5th graders arrives early to set up, practice, and broadcast the show LIVE to our entire school. We are only a few weeks into the year, and they are already running the whole production themselves!
Crew members rotate through four different jobs throughout the year, learning every part of producing a live show. Each spring, 4th graders are nominated and audition for a spot on the following year’s crew.
We are so proud of the responsibility, teamwork, and confidence this crew is already showing. And we’re just getting started! 🎥⭐

Mrs. White’s and Miss Griffin’s Science classes BLASTED OFF into our Space unit earlier this week with a Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt!
Students got out of the classroom and teamed up with a partner from the other class to search for scientific definitions of our new Space vocabulary terms. The goal of this activity was to give students a fun, interactive first look at the important vocabulary they will use throughout the unit. By working together to find, discuss, and match each definition, students began building the background knowledge they’ll need as we explore all things SPACE!
We loved seeing our scientists collaborating, moving, and learning together as we launched into our newest unit!

Our FIRST Kona Ice Visit will be next Thursday, 8/27! Kona visits our school each month for a sweet treat. You can pay by the month, or go ahead and pay for the year if you would like. Kona Ice donates a portion of their sales back to Dewar so that we can throw the best PBIS parties for our student's positive behaviors each 9 weeks!
This event is PREPAY only. No cash will be accepted at the school prior to the event, or at the truck on the day of the visit. The link below will be open through Thursday morning at 6:00am so don't miss out!
