Lowndes County Schools is proud to announce a 2025 graduation rate of 94.1%, according to the data released by the Georgia Department of Education today. This represents a significant increase from last year’s rate of 92.8% and reflects the district’s continued commitment to academic achievement and student success.
Graduates from the Class of 2025 are taking their next steps both close to home and across the nation. Many will continue their education at our outstanding local institutions, including Valdosta State University, Wiregrass Technical College, and Georgia Military College. Some Lowndes High graduates have chosen to attend other prestigious universities, such as Johns Hopkins, Penn State, Purdue, Georgia Tech, and the University of Georgia, among others across the state and country. These diverse pathways reflect both the academic strength of Lowndes students and the district’s commitment to preparing them for success at every level, whether in our own community or on the national stage.
“The Class of 2025 stands as clear evidence of what can be achieved when students, families, educators, and the community work together toward a shared goal,” shares Principal Krista Pearson. “Each diploma is not only an academic milestone but also a reflection of years of resilience, encouragement, and growth. Our Lowndes High School graduates have developed both knowledge and character, and they are prepared to continue learning, growing, and contributing in meaningful ways to the world around them.”
The 4-year adjusted cohort graduation rate stands at 93.85%, up from last year’s 93.0%, while the 5-year graduation rate climbed to 94.52%, up more than two points from last year. These results demonstrate the district’s ongoing efforts to support students throughout their school journey.
Lowndes County Schools also outperformed the state average of 87.2%, continuing its tradition of excellence and commitment to preparing graduates for success in college, career, and life.
“We are incredibly proud of the progress reflected in this year’s graduation rates,” expresses Superintendent Sandra Wilcher. “These numbers represent the determination of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the unwavering support of our families and community. Together, we are proving that success is possible for every child. We believe that every teacher, from pre-K through 12th grade, contributes to the success. The graduation rate is a true reflection of the One Lowndes mindset that we begin pouring into our students the day they walk in our door with the ultimate goal for every child to graduate.”
