Dewar Elementary’s Jr. Beta and Student Council organizations participated in a friendly competition to raise items for the local animal shelter. The service project was hosted by the 4H and was presented to the fifth grade 4H classes in October. The two organizations worked hard to encourage items to be sent in for the animal shelter including dog and cat toys, hand sanitizer, and dog and cat treats. The students spent over a month collecting items and tracking their progress in the competition. When 4H arrived in December to collect the items, Dewar Elementary had collectively gathered 636 items to donate to the local animal shelters. Both organizations encourage community service and provide opportunities for students to serve others. Dewar Elementary is extremely proud of their young leaders
