First day of school is Thursday, August 4.  Dropoff begins at 7:30 am and dismissal begins at 2:45 pm.

Mrs. Wilder, Finalist for Georgia Teacher of the Year

Congratulations Mrs. Wilder from the faculty, students and staff of Dewar Elementary!  We are so proud of you!  
On Tuesday, April 26, Mrs. Wilder was announced as one of the ten finalists for Georgia's 2017 Teacher of the Year!  The ten finalists were chosen from a pool of 155 applicants, all of whom were the Teacher of the Year in their school district.  These ten finalists will now be observed and interviewed by a panel of judges over the next few weeks.  The 2017 Teacher of the Year will be announced in mid-May.

Congratulations Jasmine Hoke!!

Coastal Plains RESA is pleased to announce the 2016 Regional Winners of the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition
Our very own Jasmine Hoke, second grader, will have her story submitted at the state level for judging in May.  Winners will be announced on or before Friday, May 13.  Jasmine's story along with other finalists in the school/district/regional competition can be viewed at the Valdosta Mall on April 18 - 25.

Dewar Reading Celebration!!

http://www.magisto.com/video/M0URMFtSSzBtWQxpYwOn December 16, students who reached their reading goals attended the Reading Celebration held in the Media Center.  The students rotated through stations with varied activities including glow stick line dancing, games such as Corn Hole and Ring Toss, refreshments, and ipad games.  We will have another celebration in the spring for students who meet their goals this semester!

Dewar Reads Family Night!!

DES Junior Beta Club

Congratulations to all of the members of the Dewar Elementary Junior Beta Club!  An induction ceremony was held on Wed., October 7.  Mrs. Stephanie Hicks will be sponsoring the club this year and the students are already planning several service projects!
The first meeting was held on Thurs. morning, Oct. 8 in the Media Center.  Officers were elected and are as follows:

Dewar Spelling Bee 2016!

Congratulations to fifth graders Joshua Kim, 1st place champion and Dionne Jones, 1st runner-up!  All of the students participating did an excellent job and we are so proud of each of them!  Both Joshua and Dionne will be participating in the Lowndes County Spelling Bee on Friday, February 5.

A Dewar Christmas Celebration!
