Jenny's Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe

Jenny's Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe will be open for business on Monday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 4.  Each class has signed up for a shopping day and time that was sent home before the Thanksgiving break.  Parent volunteers will assist children while shopping.  If you would like for your child to participate, please complete and return the Gift List Budget Envelope (with cash or check) to the school on the date that your child's class is scheduled to shop.  The Holiday Shoppe will also be open on Dec. 3 from 4:30-6:30 for parents who wish to come and shop with their children.  
**Please make all checks payable to Dewar Elementary School for the exact amount.

Dewar Reads Family Night!!

What a night!  A million thank yous to all of the administrators, teachers, cafeteria workers, parents, and students who made Dewar Reads a tremendous success!  A special thank you to all the guests who stood in line and waited so patiently to make your purchases!  We appreciate you all!  Click on the image to view a few sights from the evening.

Congratulations to Casie Griffin, employee of the month for August; and Courtney Fleming, employee of the month for September!  Thanks for being such shining examples!!

Join the Dewar PTO!

If you missed the first PTO meeting earlier this month, it's not too late to join!  You can get a membership form from the office or click on the image to download a form now.  Membership fees are $5 per family and can be turned in to your child's homeroom teacher.  The homeroom with the highest percentage of members by Friday, October 30, will receive a special treat!
Elections for PTO officers (president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer) will be held at the next meeting on Nov. 10.  If you are interested in serving in one of these positions, please submit your name and desired position via e-mail to :

DES Junior Beta Club

Congratulations to all of the members of the Dewar Elementary Junior Beta Club!  An induction ceremony was held on Wed., October 7.  Mrs. Stephanie Hicks will be sponsoring the club this year and the students are already planning several service projects!
The first meeting was held on Thurs. morning, Oct. 8 in the Media Center.  Officers were elected and are as follows:
President: Jack Lockhart
Vice President: Marlana Clark
Secretary: Tate Sirmans
Treasurer: Amyah Espanol
